It might so happen to be America’s birthday, which typically means a holiday away from work. Yet, the Fridge simply cannot let America’s birthday pass without giving it the recognition and celebration this nation deserves.
And, what sings out America more than Bruce Springsteen. Well, perhaps a day away from the office sitting on the couch with a patriotic Miller High Life in hand while watching Workaholics. Or, perhaps sitting poolside, bronzing with Jack and Coke as company. Just thinking out loud here.
Nonetheless, Bruce Springsteen is The Boss, and while “Born In The USA” may not highlight the glories of this American Life. It does serve as a helpful reminder as to why each of us should be proud and fortunate to call the United States our home. Despite politics, we live in a country where words and discussion are valued over blind judgment and assumptions. A country where we continue to battle misconceptions in order to further the inherent dignity of every individual. We falter. Yet, these pitfalls are necessary obstacles on the path of progress.
God Bless the United States of America.
Happy Fourth of July Fridge Friends!
