feature Video du Jour — 02 August 2012
Being the only contributor obsessed with Lykke Li, it’s time for the Swedish indie pop queen to make her first appearance on the Fridge. Her most recent video, Sadness is a Blessing, comes off of her sophomore release which was supported by a world tour throughout most of 2011. The backless white dress she rocks while performing her erratic dance solo is a rare feat for Lykke; she is typically in long-sleeved black garbs stomping through snowy forests or seducing audiences in front of projection screens. Whatever wild scene she may choose convey, Sadness is a Blessing is a poignant reminder that we tend to embrace what’s most familiar even if it’s not the right thing to do because in the end, we have nothing else to catch our fall.
