feature Video du Jour — 19 July 2012
No Doubt’s highly anticipated single, Settle Down, was released on Tuesday to some mixed reviews. ‘Settle Down’ hones in on the band’s original ska roots but just seems out of place in this decade. Not to mention the band members are in their 40s and are recreating college-age antics in the video. Nevertheless, No Doubt deserves a congratulatory VDJ for rising from the dead and forcing everyone to remember why we loved them so much in the first place. The only way to do that is with ‘Don’t Speak,’ the post-breakup ballad that sent the group from their Garden Grove,CA beginnings to the world of mainstream pop. By the way, Gwen looks as if she didn’t age a day between now and 1996′s Tragic Kingdom. Once a babe, always a babe.
