Daily News: Check Out this Track from Gramtik, The Newest Addition to Pretty Lights Music

Derek Vincent Smith, the man behind Pretty Lights, has slowly been rounding up fresh talent under the relatively recently formed Pretty Lights Music label. The label includes several artists who exemplify the sound and styling of Pretty Lights music and few you may have caught on the festival circuit this year. There is Michal Menert, the Polish export who grew up with Smith in Colorado. Menert’s 2010 debut, Dreaming of  a Bigger Life, proved to be a solid first effort. In fact, the track “Feeling Better” creeped into solid rotation after randomly catching his live show.

Then there is Paper Diamond who is probably better known to most as Alex B. Leaving behind the beats for which Alex Botwin first gained recognition, Paper Diamond brings heavy bass on Levitation, the first release under the new moniker. Pretty Lights Music also features Break Science, the brainchild of drummer Adam Deitch and Borahm Lee. Break Science blends Deitch’s breakbeat style with Lee’s trip-hop/dub stylings to produce their own unique sound.

Now added to the mix is Gramatik. Hailing from Slovenia, Gramatik’s style of sound seems to be a perfect fit with the Pretty Lights Music label. Blending elements from various genres, Gramatik fills ears with funk inspired electronic hip hop reminiscent of the sounds made popular by Pretty Lights. You can download the first single from Gramatik here: So Much for Love.
