Thundercat, the alter ego of Stephen Bruner, may be most well-known for stepping in as the bass player for Suicidal Tendencies back in 2002. However, that is all about to change. After providing vocals for the track ‘MmmHmm’ off of Flying Lotus’ acclaimed 2010 album Cosmogramma, the two continued to collaborate with FlyLo producing Thundercat’s forthcoming debut album, The Golden Age of Apocalypse. Slated for an August release, The Golden Age of Apocalypse, is already being touted by FlyLo as the best album of 2011. Granted, he does have a personal stake in the album’s success, but judging from the two tracks released from the album thus far, we are all in for a treat. You can listen to ‘Daylight’ here: Thundercat: “Daylight”
And just in case you missed the first cut released from the album, peep this link for a listen: Thundercat: “For Love I Come”
We cannot wait to open the fridge in August to find a tasty treat courtesy of Thundercat waiting inside.
